NOTW- Blue on Blue & Reaching 30

I'm calling this post Nail of the Week because I don't do my nails every few days, I only do them on the weekends. I'm sure many of you have seen manicures like this before, but for me its something new I tried on my nails. I wanted something a bit different than just keeping a solid shade for work. What I used was OPI in I Have a Herring Problem for the full nail and then used China Glaze Electric Beat for the tips. Here is the outcome of my Blue on Blue manicure for this week.

I really wish I had more of steady hand for this type of manicure, but I tried my best. Should done something more with it like put dots on the tips or something. Anyways what do you think?

Nicki Minaj- Save Me

Since I've bought the Nicki Minaj Save Me nail polish, I've been trying to figure out which is the best way to use this polish since it has a load of glitter. Now I normally use the Wet n Wild eye make-up remover but honestly it tends to sting my eyes if I get it to close to them. So for a while I've had my eyes on the Clarisonic because now that I'm getting older I want to be able to take better care of my skin. Not only that I want my skin to look better as well. L.A. Kings Game

Saturday night my brother's friend offered him 4 VIP hockey tickets to the Kings game. My brother called and invited my husband and I since we didn't have anything to do. Thank goodness he did because it turned my anniversary weekend into an exciting one!! My family and I are huge hockey fans, our #1 team is the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings are my #2 team. I want to share a part of my personal life with you all and this is a personal part of my life I don't mind people knowing.

As most of you don't know my husband I have been together since Nov 10,2000. We had met in April of 2000 about 2 weeks after my 18th birthday and became somewhat friends. We only talked to each to see how we were doing and what we were up to and that was it. Around Sept we had start to talk even more on a daily basis for hours at time. During all this I honestly had a feeling that he was "the one". Then Nov 10th I had invited him to my cousins Homecoming party and on that day we became boyfriend/girlfriend! The other day I had stopped by the Dollar Tree and saw they had carried L.A. Colors cosmetics. Favorite Makeup Products

Boots No. 7 Mattifying Makeup Base

I've been using this primer for about a month now and I absolutely love it! I do have oily skin but during the summer it's just gross. So I found this product at Target and I think its the only store where this can be found. Before I had this primer I would have to touch up like ever 2-3 hrs which was just to much. Of course shine still breaks through but its not enough to touch up, all I have to do is blot and my makeup still remains to look fresh through out the day.

NYX Swatches

Since I only bought 3 NYX items I figured I would do a swatch post. I absolutely love the NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss! They are pretty much true to color and they formula is just perfect for me, not to thin and not to thick.

The Mosaic Powder is very smooth and velvety. I noticed when I do use this blush it actually last all day long and does not seem to really fade.

Besides the swatches I wanted to know if anyone knows of a cheaper dup the for Stila Smudge Stick eyeliners? Or do you know of any good smudge proof eyeliners and are drug store brands?

After a year of wanting to go to the IMATS I finally got to go this year. I went with 2 other girls and I swear we were in makeup heaven! I knew for sure when I went I wanted brushes but since there a few brush companies that were going to be there I want to look around for the best deal. Looking around did not happen at all! As soon as we saw a brush booth I looked for what I needed and purchased. I really wish I would have found and read Lip Gloss Gossip's IMATS tips, it would have really helped.

Wishing you all a late Merry Christmas!!! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.

Last Saturday we had went to Universal Studio's with my husband's side of the family since my son was given tickets for his birthday. The day we went it was so cold, windy and rained non-stop. We went regardless of the weather and to be honest with you living in southern California and going to amusement parks, when it rains that is the best day to go. Don't get me wrong people still go but it's not as packed and line wait times are so much less than it would be on a sunny day. It was so nice how everything was set up. The Grinchmas so cool, they had snow which ended up being more of a slush but it didn't stop my son and his cousin's from playing in it. They had employees dressed up as some of the character's from The Grinch. The new 3-D King Kong was awesome! I'm just glad my son enjoyed it, the favorite ride for the kids was Jurassic Park and The Simpson's ride.

Thanksgiving Weekend

I know this is a bit late but I still wanted to share my Thanksgiving weekend with you all. Since 2007 I have been hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my place and I would invite my parents, brother, in-laws and brother in law. Well this year I just didn't feel like having a big dinner so I just made dinner for the 3 of us. It was still nice and a lot more quieter.

On Friday I wasn't going to go shopping but at the last minute I did, this was my first Black Friday ever! I had worked on Black Friday before but never got to shop. So for it being my first Black Friday I though I would have to be rushing to find what I wanted for my son, turns out it was like any other shopping day. I guess in order for me to experience the rush I would have to have gone at the moment stores opened.

On saturday we celebrated my husbands birthday a few days late but it's ok, he got what he wanted. He just wanted to spend a day with his wife and son up at Big Bear. We left at 6 am and got to Big Bear at 7:45 and it was 25°! It was freezing but we loved it! So we ate breakfast around 8, drove around, went to K-Mart and to the Dollar Tree. After looking around we drove around to look for a place for my son to play in the snow and finally found the perfect spot where there was no one else but us. We ended up leaving around 1 something and when we left it only reached 45° and finally got home a little before 3.

On Sunday I as so exhausted from our long weekend and having to wake up early I finally able to just stay home and rest. What did everyone else do for this long weekend?

What's New....

So on my day off I went to Walgreen's because they had Wet n Wild cosmetics on sale for 50% off! With that kind of a sale it was basically a steal, I got them for $2.49 each. I've been wanting to get more of the color icon palettes and so I bought the Pride and Lust palette. I had to go to 3 different Walgreen's to find Lust but I'm glad I did. I love these palettes very much, they are just as other girls have reviewed, pigmented. Now if you actually look up other blog's mentioning these palettes you will find that these palette's are MAC dup's in one way or another. One example is the Pride palette the dark shimmer blue is a dup for MAC's Deep Truth. Regardless these eyeshadow's are great and just because they are cheaper than the higher end eyeshadow's does't mean they don't get the job done.

Last post I talked about how I found a shine control lotion at Target, well I've been using since and I must say I love it. I have very oily skin especially my nose so every day I have been using this before doing my makeup. Since I've been using it I've notice I do not have touch up as much and a little shine does break through but not nearly as much as before. When that does happen all I have to do is blot it off and I'm good. I don't have to touch up with powder as much either which a big plus. The lotion which is called Boot's Expert Shine Control Lotion does help my makeup stay on longer it alone works as a good face primer. I am not disappointed with product and once it's done I will buy this again. I do, however would like to try the Mark Matte Chance Mattifying Lotion just to see how it work's and if shine still break's through. But as I said I will continue to use my Shine Control Lotion.

So on a personal note November and December are my family's favorite months not only because of the holidays but because November is such a busy time of year for us. Nov 10 will mark 10 year's of my husband and I being together and Nov. 13 will be 6 wonderful year's of being married. Nov. 23 is my hubby's days and the next day Nov. 24 will my little brother's 24th bday and finally it will be Thanksgiving. Oh not to mention Nov. 11 is my grandma's bday, Nov. 23 is also my gret-grandma's bday who is still alive and Nov.25 is my cousin's and my cousin's son's bday as well. Whewww I think I got everything in here. So yes November is a busy, busy month.

So does anyone have anything planned for Thanksgiving? As for me, I usually do a dinner at my place with family but this year it's just going to my own family with dinner.

Some New Stuff

I wanted to share with you some of the stuff I bought this past week. Now my camera is not very good so some of the stuff I bought will have links.

Ok so I'm going to share the eyeshadows I bought, first one is the Sonia Kashuk's in Whisper and Chocolate at Target. I used a few times, but after I saw the swatches on A Brilliant Brunette for the Wet N Wild's Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette I bought that and have been using that one instead. I absolutely love this palette!! The palette I got is called Vanity, and I do plan on buying the other one's in the near future. Second thing I purchased was samples of Coastal Scent's Undercover HD Foundation in ST-3B. What prompted me to buy this was reading one of the reviews where someone posted they are a MAC NC20 which I am and that it fit perfectly. So I got the samples and when I opened it the packet it did not match the color it shows on the website, it was more on the yellow side. I tried it anyways and it did fit my skin color pretty good. I've only used this twice and so far I like it.
Coast Scent's Foundation

Third item purchased was eye makeup remover, while at Target I found one called Boot's Expert Sensitive Gentle Eye Make Up Removal Lotion which I do not like at all. This makeup remover is very oily in opinion and mainly it's my fault I spent money on this, I failed to read the back where it say's it has gentle oils to remove. So I went back and bought the Maybelline Expert Eyes® 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover and this one in my opinion is much better. I've had past experience's where the makeup remover say's its oil free but when you use it you can feel some oil in it. This one however does not feel like that at all, it feels more water based.

Finally the last thing I bought was also a Boot's item called Shine Control Lotion which I won't talk about since I have not yet used this product. I will be using it starting Monday through Friday. I have oily skin which is very annoying and I'm hoping this shine control will help.

I'm sure you are all aware of that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, right? Right! So I'm not only reminding everyone of Breast Cancer Awareness but showing support as well. Breast Cancer is something that has either taken or has been defeated by my family. Most recently my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer and luckily it was caught early enough to tackle it, remove it and now she has survived this demon. I also have an aunt (my tia) who also was diagnosed a few years back and survived as well. There are aunt's of mine who also passed away from breast cancer many years ago. With me know of all this, I know I need to make sure I take care of myself and as soon as I am able to I need to get check, its never to early to start!

What else is going on in October?? Well yesterday I just had my son's 8th birthday party and it went really well. He had a Sponge Bob theme party and he had so much fun. It's so crazy that he is going to be 8 years old!! I remember in the beginning of my blogging where I was telling people that I was pregnant! Time sure does fly by but I'm loving every moment of it.

I know most people can't wait for Halloween but I myself don't really care for it. The only thing that I like about it is the candy and crazy make up and nail polish that comes out! So now, I'm just waiting for November...Why? You'll find out when that month comes.

School and Planning

So next Tuesday is the first day of school for my son, he is going into the second grade!! Gosh how time fly's by so fast. I'm so glad he's already for school, got his uniforms, backpack's, and school supplies. I'm really hoping he gets a great teacher just like he did last year.

Alright so his 8th birthday is in a month and half and we are doing a party for him. I've already made his invitations and now need to print them. Usually for his birthday we buy the food already made but this year I'm going to make the food and I'm making his favorite which is chicken enchilada's but using the green sauce with rice and beans, yes a typical mexican dish. My mom will be making his cake as she always does and this helps out a lot. The theme he picked this year is SpongeBob which makes this so easy cause SpongeBob is easy to find. Last year he picked Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs and ugh it was hard to find anything.

The design I did for my son's invites which are suppose to look like tickets. I truly enjoy making custom invites and have even started a website but I have not yet opened it. I'm so afraid of opening the site because I don't know how its going to work out.

French Tip Nails

A while back I had found a video on You Tube on how to do your own french manicure, which has really helped me and I truly say that after trying this I love how my own nails came out. Before I would try to just paint the tip of my nails but I could just never get it right and after trying over and over again I would just get frustrated and remove it. So when I found this video of course I was happy and I finally gave it a try today. I don't know about you but I do not have a steady hand so that is why this really helped. Final Result

Showed both hands because I'm right handed, just so you can see how pretty much even they are, pretty good huh? I know they are not perfect but I loved how they came out.

So today I went to a store called 123 Dollar Stores and I bought the two Jordana nails polishes above and also found what looked like a big match book but it was a file book and it has 24 mini files that just break off. As soon as I saw these I just had to have them since I always make sure my nails are nice and filed at all times.

Friday Aug. 6th around 7:00 pm we finally headed up north for our yearly camping vacation. We were so excited since this is a family tradition and the fact that this was first year we got to use our own car! So anyways we got there pretty quick it only took us about 4 1/2 hours and we only made one stop. Thankfully our son was asleep for most of the way cause we all know when kids are small they constantly have to use the bathroom. We ended up getting to my parents camp spot at 11:20 and as soon I got there and got to my tent I knocked out! I had been up since 4:30 am. We stayed till the following Monday and it was so fun but went by to fast. I know for sure I am asking for more days off next year. The weather was nice as well except for one day where it got really cloudy all of a sudden then right before 6 pm it just clear, but other than that it was perfect.

On another note my son will be turning 8 in about 2 months, so now I have my work set ahead of me. I've already made his invites, got the guest list and food menu, but the hard part is making sure to have the money needed to make this happen. Luckily we have a great family who is always willing to help out when needed. I just want to see how much of it we can do on our own.

Counting down

So we got about 2 more weeks before head up north for our yearly camping trip. We will only be there from Friday night through Monday, not to long but good enough to get away. I'm so happy to leaving, but now we just have to make sure we have everything we need.

Onto another subject, I've been wanting to get nails done again but of course I don't want to pay to get them done right now. So I've been watching You Tube video's on how to do different looks on my own. I'm the type of person who normally sticks to one type of style which is white tip french manicure just because it goes with everything. I had went to the dollar store and bought some L.A. Color nail polish (Nuclear Energy) and art deco (Black & Silver Glitter) in colors I would never thought I'd use. So last night I was bored and decided what the heck I'll do my nails, they are still with tips only but for me it's different. The only thing I did not like about the nail polish is that it goes on to sheer, I had use about 3-4 coats in order for it to come out dark enough. The art deco polish works really well and you don't need to use as much coats. Click on the pictures below to see.

Finding my way

Ok so like I said in my last blog we were thinking about looking for a new church, well we didn't find one. We decided to finally not let anyone get in our way and just continue going. Going back does seem different and it seems like old times when it was good. So no more trying to look for a new church we are going to stick with our old one, but I do need to build the relationship with God that I once had.

So last night I went shopping and bought some new eyeshadow, I've been trying to find really nice pinks and purples and I found some. Got a new set of 4 neutral eyeshadows and eyeshadow base. I do need to take a trip to the MAC store since I ran out of my studio fix compact, I'll being doing to that soon.

So here lately I just feel like I'm drowning. I haven't been to church since Oct. 31st of last year, haven't been doing what I know I should be doing. The past couple of days I've been really thinking about how things used to be before I started going to church things I was into especially the music and starting to listen to it again. I'm slowing slipping, but the good thing is that I've noticed it and need to stop before it gets out of hand and goes to far. So as of right now I am looking for a new church since I do not want to go back to my old one. I think I found one closer to home and hopefully I do try it out.

So Much Stuff....

So much stuff has been going on this month but it's ended up going fairly well. For starters my job, again, had to go through lay offs. Why? Well here's the thing I work at a union job and with the new contract we were all to get a raise as of 3/1/10, company said they didn't have the money and wanted us to wait till next year to get our raise. Well the left up to us employees to wait or get our raise now and have about 10-15 laid off. Time came for the decision and turns out that supossedly everyone wanted the raise? How I dont know, none of the shop stewards came up to me or anyone else that I've talked to see if wanted the raise or not. We were all upset cause come one $0.43 raise??? How much more can that give us? So to keep this long story short layoffs happened, but I was yet again safe at my job. With all this happening though the company decided to split up our dept (customer care center) into 3 depts. So its been two weeks in my new spot and I'm adjusting pretty good now. I have more office space and the dept is pretty nice.

So the second thing is that my husband and I were finally able to buy our first car togehter! For those of you who have been follow me for a while know that my old car was given to me as a christmas gift by my parents the year my son was born and has been nothing but trouble. So we are so happy to finally have a newer used car and it has been great!!! We just bought it on tuesday and we have been out and about.

Yup it's about time...I finally changed the name of my site from Preciouz World to Just Being Me. After having Preciouz World for about 9 years it just got old. The name is simple, yet the truth of how I am. Let's hope with the new name change I'll be more into my site again and continue to blog.I'll be back later with more to say.
